The City of Ryde celebrated their multi cultural and diverse community with the spectacular 'Colours of Ryde Festival' as part of Harmony Day yesterday, 21 March.

The day was an opportunity to experience the richness of the community through traditions, food and entertainment.

The Mobile Stage Truck was positioned and set up in front of a very excited crowd of families and local residents all out to celebrate the nationally marked Harmony Day with live music and an array of different acts.

The first act to take to the Mobile Stage Truck was the very authentic sound of the 'Shane Younger Band' who bought the sound of Ireland to the spectators to kick start the festival.

Soon after came a fantastic display of dance and cool moves from the Group 'Dance Generation' who really got everyone in the party mood with chart topping music that blasted out of the Stage Truck’s speakers.

With their jumps, twists and turns it was a display that really showed the passion of the young people in the community.

To add to the mix of diverse sounds came the 'Korean Cow Girls' whose original set, that fused Korean and western folk music together, gave the crowd yet another reason to dance and enjoy the music that spilled from the Mobile Stage Truck.

The Mayor of Ryde then took to the Mobile Stage Truck and gave a the community a heartwarming speech celebrating the reasons and meaning for the day with a very special guest who thanked the community for sharing the culture and land.

The "Rhymer of Ryde" did a fantastic job as MC, and kept the crowds happy and the program on track!

Later, came the 'Marist Brothers College' and 'My Guitar School' which show cased some classics and modern guitar styles performed by the students.

The Bollywood Sensations came next, with a high octane performance that wowed the crowd as they danced in front of the Mobile Stage Truck, getting the crowd involved with some real 'Bollywood' moves.

The Mobile Stage Truck saw 10 acts as the day went on and when the band 'Italo Kanguri' came on and entertained with a mix of Italian humour and classic party songs, the crowd were more than happy to join in and sing and dance.

To end the festival and bring the entertainment to a close all the children were invited to take bongo drums and join in with what was an exhilarating performance of drums, traditional beats and fire blowing from 'Drum Beats' a mix of African and European sounds that enthralled the audience to the very end.

The Mobile Stage truck was again at centre stage and the crew was very proud to have been involved in this very special community day.
